Ben has a new friend, a little bigger than his other ones, who can do really neat tricks with fire. Course it helps that Ben's new friend is a dragon. Firedrake has chosen Ben to be his rider and Sorrel as his navigator. In order for Firedrake to find a place called home, the three must challenge the odds and outsmart the villains to get Firedrake where he needs to be.

An entertaining read but intended for younger readers. Don't get me wrong, the book was good, but as highly developed as you would hope. If you need some kid fantasy pick up a copy, otherwise try the Meggie series.
