The Crimson Petal and the White
Adult Fiction

Meet Miss Sugar, a prostitute on the streets of London during the 19th century. All Sugar dreams of is a better life, something more like a lady. She knows, the chances are slim, but she's willing to chance it all to escape. Sugar introduces us to William Rackham, a muddled man, with a crazy wife and a daughter he can barely recognize. Using all her skills and charms, she gets William to move her out and into society.

Meeka says:
This novel started strangely, but finally worked out to a very compelling story with a twisted ending that actually brought it all together for everyone. I was both captivated and disgusted by it, and actually got rid of my first copy. I bought another one as I kept thinking about the novel. It still fascinates me.
